Who I am

I am Alejandro Salazar, owner of Fading Sun Photos, where I’ve been creating unique, high-quality imagery for nearly ten years.

My passion for photography began during my time in the Marine Corps, where I served for 8 years and was forward deployed several times. In between deployments, I found comfort and connection in photographing my kids playing sports, capturing everything from game-winning goals to the pure joy on their faces. Those moments gave me a sense of stability and purpose amidst the chaos and uncertainty of military life. What started as a way to hold on to precious memories quickly grew into a deep, lasting love for storytelling through images.

Over the years, that passion has taken me far beyond the sidelines of youth sports. I've had the incredible opportunity to cover major sporting events across the U.S. and Mexico, including MLB games, NHL matchups, UFC fights, motorsports, and soccer at all levels. Whether I'm in a packed stadium or at a dusty racetrack, I strive to capture the raw emotion, energy, and beauty of each moment. Photography has become more than just a hobby, it's my way of telling stories that connect people, preserve history, and celebrate the spirit of competition.
